The January 2026 GTA 5 update broke every mod I had installed, including my custom car liveries and graphics mods. Rockstar changed the game's file structure, and all third-party mods became incompatible overnight.
I spent 6 hours reinstalling mods from scratch, only to find that half of them were abandoned by their developers. Now I avoid major updates, and I back up my mod folder to an external drive before updating.
If you mod GTA 5, back up your files. Rockstar doesn't care about modders, and updates will break your setup every time.
