I switched to first person mode in GTA 5, and I haven't gone back. Driving feels more realistic, shooting is more precise, and the immersion is 10x better.
The only downside is that you can't see your character, so you miss out on custom outfits. But the gameplay is so much better that it's worth it.
If you play GTA 5, try first person mode. It changes the entire game experience.
