I added AdMob banner ads to NetScan Pro, and made $12 in 3 months. The eCPM is $0.50, which means I need 24k impressions to make $12. Most users block ads, so the revenue is tiny.
I'm switching to a freemium model: free version with ads, $2.99 pro version with no ads and extra features (export scan results to CSV). The pro version has 3 sales so far, making $9 total.
If you're monetizing an Android app, skip ads. They annoy users, and the revenue is negligible for small apps.
