The AI Export Feature Nobody Asked For (That I Use Every Day)

Here's a feature I didn't know I needed until I had it: a blue dashed box around each message that lets you select conversations by clicking anywhere inside it.

Most export tools use tiny checkboxes on the far right of each message. You know the ones — you have to scroll, find the exact right edge of the message, and click a box that's maybe 12 pixels wide. In a long conversation, it's like playing a precision game.

The tool I use — XWX AI Chat Exporter — does something different. Each message has a subtle blue dashed border. Click anywhere inside that border and the message gets selected. No hunting for checkboxes. No missing the target. Just click the message area, which is what you're already looking at.

It's one of those UX details that seems minor until you try the alternative. Once you get used to it, going back to tiny checkboxes feels archaic.

The extension works with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, and Grok — all in one. The export quality is consistently good across platforms: PDF with clickable table of contents, Markdown, Word, and more. The free tier covers 3 PDF exports per day, and Markdown is unlimited.

Good design isn't about adding features. It's about making the obvious work better.
