My Minimal Workspace Setup: What I Actually Keep on My Desk

After experimenting, testing, and refining my workspace, I realized something:

It’s not about having the “perfect setup” —
it’s about having a clear and minimal one.

So here’s what I actually keep on my desk right now.

🧩 The Core Setup

I reduced everything to just a few essentials:

  • Laptop (main working tool)
  • Notebook (quick thoughts & planning)
  • Pen (always within reach)

That’s the core. Everything else is optional.

🔄 Supporting Elements

A few additional items that support the system:

  • A simple light source (comfortable visibility)
  • One small object (for visual balance, not decoration)

Nothing more than necessary.

🚫 What I Removed

More important than what I kept is what I removed:

  • Random small items
  • Multiple unused tools
  • Anything that doesn’t serve a clear purpose

Every extra item adds friction.

⚙️ How I Decide What Stays

I use a simple filter:

  1. Do I use this daily?
  2. Does it support my main task?
  3. Does it reduce friction or add to it?

If the answer is no, it doesn’t stay.

🔍 Final Thoughts

This setup isn’t about minimalism for aesthetics.

It’s about clarity.

The fewer decisions your environment requires, the easier it is to focus.

I’m still refining it, but this is the simplest version that works for me so far.

Curious about your setup:

  • What are the 3 things you always keep on your desk?
  • What’s one thing you could remove today?
