Iām the creator of https://www.briefnewsdaily.com ā a site that uses AI š¤ to generate quick, concise summaries of the most important news stories š° each day. I put a lot of effort into SEO-friendly content, but it turns out that just having lots of text doesnāt magically catapult you to the top of Google. Turns out Google kinda wants you to earn it!
ā The Early SEO Struggles
I have close to 20 fresh news summaries daily, but Iām nowhere near page one on any major keywords. To add to the mystery, my favicon sometimes appears, sometimes doesnāt in search results. Possibly the most confusing bug of my startup journey. It felt like being stealthily āshadow-bannedā by Google.
š¦The (Seemingly) Shadow-Banned X/Twitter Experience
Next, I tried building an audience on X (formerly Twitter): @BriefNewsDaily. I automated a lot of the posting ā ā 168 tweets in one week! That effort basically echoed into the void. āAlmost zero engagement. For a moment, that was demoralizing. I started wondering if thereās any way to market without spending a dime or paying an influencer.

But you can only wallow for so long. I reminded myself Iām in this for the long haulšŖ, so I decided to pivot to short-form video. News snippets are perfect for TikTok and YouTube Shorts, right? Here is an example of one I created: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/mrvOhzj2zTo
Testing the Watersš
šYouTube Shorts: In just one weekend, I got 1,148 views (though YouTubeās algorithm seems slower and more cautious about promotions).
šTikTok: (https://www.tiktok.com/@briefnewsdaily): hit 3.1k views, 115 likes, 21 comments, and 3 shares. Those arenāt āviralā numbers, but for a zero-dollar campaign in a couple of days, Iāll take it!
š„The Game Plan
Iām giving myself 30 days of consistently creating 2-3 Shorts per day, sourced from the news on my site. My hope is that by the end of it, Iāll not only see an uptick in brand awareness, but also get more traffic to the site.

My hypothesis? Inexpensive (read: free) consistency might unlock that elusive algorithmic push on these platforms also on each vide my url is visible. So I need to get the most š
