FAQ Schema can help AI search understand a page, but it should not be used as hidden content storage.
The best version is simple:
- the FAQ appears visibly on the page
- the Schema matches the visible answer
- each answer is short and direct
- the questions reflect real long-tail prompts
- the wording avoids guaranteed outcomes
For GEO pages, useful FAQ questions might include:
- What is GEO optimization?
- How is GEO different from SEO?
- Why is AI search not recommending my website?
- What is the difference between an AI mention and a citation?
- How long does GEO retesting take?
The problem starts when teams add answers in JSON-LD that users cannot see. That may create short-term structure, but it weakens trust and makes maintenance harder.
Schema is a signal. It is not a substitute for visible, well-written content.
At Mingde, we use structured data to reinforce the page, not to hide the page. If the visible answer is weak, the Schema will not save it.
