I built TokenBar because most AI bills are a visibility problem, not a billing problem

I built TokenBar because I kept seeing the same problem over and over: people assume their AI spend is a billing issue, when it is really a visibility issue.

If you use Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or a stack of API tools all day, it is surprisingly hard to answer basic questions like:

  • Which tool is burning the most tokens today?
  • How much did that one debugging session actually cost?
  • Am I drifting toward a surprise bill before the month ends?

TokenBar is my attempt to make that visible in real time, right in the macOS menu bar.

It is a tiny app, but the use case is real. I wanted something that helps me notice usage early instead of finding out after the damage is done.

It is intentionally simple:

  • live token tracking
  • fast at-a-glance cost visibility
  • built for people who live in AI tools all day

If that is you, check it out here: https://tokenbar.site

Would love feedback from people watching AI spend closely, especially folks paying for Cursor, Claude, or multiple AI tools at once.
