Hi everyone,
I want to share my experience and see if anyone else has encountered the same issue.
Timeline:
March 12: First subscribed to Cursor Pro. Everything worked fine.
April 12: Subscription lapsed because I didn’t renew in time. From this point on, every time I tried to use a Pro feature, I was shown a prompt saying my account was not subscribed and payment was required. I had zero access to any Pro features.
May 7: I resubscribed and was charged successfully. I assumed my new billing cycle would run from May 7 to June 7.
May 7 (same day): I noticed my account still showed an expiration date of May 12 — only 5 days after my payment.
Support response :
I contacted support and was told that my April 12 invoice was considered “overdue,” and that my May 7 payment was automatically applied to settle that overdue bill. Therefore, the subscription cycle remains anchored to the original billing date (the 12th of each month), and they are unable to recalculate or extend it.
Why I think this is unfair:
During the entire period from April 12 to May 6 (25 days), I was completely locked out of Pro features. I wasn’t a Pro user who simply chose not to use the service — I was actively denied access every time I tried. The system itself told me I wasn’t subscribed.
Cursor is essentially charging me for 25 days of service that was never delivered. Applying my payment to cover that period and then refusing to adjust the billing cycle means I paid a full month’s fee but only received 5 days of actual Pro access.
I requested either:
An extension of 25 days to compensate for the period I had no access, or
A reset of my billing cycle to start from May 7.
Both requests were denied, with the reason being that “the invoice has already been generated and the account has been associated with that billing cycle.”
My subscription expires tomorrow (May 12). I paid on May 7 and effectively only got 5 days of Pro for a full month’s price.
Has anyone else run into this? Is there any escalation path beyond the standard support ticket? Any advice would be appreciated.
