I'm a friendly, non-dev, cisgender guy from NC who enjoys playing music/making noise, hiking, eating veggies, and hanging out with my best friend/wife + our 3 kitties + 1 greyhound.
Sometimes I do. Other times I don't. I have no idea if there is anything in common with when I listen to music and when I don't. Probably random. There is a scene in "I want a dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown" where Rerun asks Snoopy how he decides whether or not to bark at someone. Snoopy responds by flipping a coin and then barking once (rare case when he isn't silent). That's how I decide whether or not to listen to music while programming.
Almost always. I don't code professionally, so nobody minds if I can't hear them because of my headphones :P
As for what I listen to, it often doesn't matter. I like to switch it up when it gets boring. Sometimes it's TheFatRat, sometimes songs from Fast and Furious, sometimes Spanish songs. Occasionally I'll listen to classical music.

I'm still learning about technology and leadership since I was 15 years old. I like to code valuable solutions and help people to learn and improve their skills
Most of all the time, buuuut i get disctracted with the music I love, so, to get focused on my tasks I listen some lo-fi playlist (like The Jazz Hop Cafe).
I like taking notes when learning something new and more complex and so I decided to write articles that help me to get better understanding of what I'm currently learning.

Admittedly, not a coder, but I do often listen to music while I work. I also share a post each week called Music Monday — here's a link to the series.
This week we're sharing our favorite cover songs if you wanna join in!

I have a hard time without. Though I have a hard time figuring out what works for me, so I change up genres often.
You're not the only :)

is there another way to code that doesn't involve listening to music? 🤔
I can't code while listening to songs that have lyrics, so I listen almost everyday things like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MJi7T4lX80&t=28183s&pp=ygUXbWVkaXRhdGUgbGlrZSBhIHdpdGNoZXI%3D
Coding and music are meant to complement each other!
That's the way it should be!
Well said
I like techno sets, if you find a good one you have music for a whole hour. Like this:

I often listen to instrumental music, such as baroque, healing, ambient, and natural sounds, at a very low volume to help me focus.
I am the same way. Instrumental/ambient and very low volume helps me focus.
